Areté Associates

Areté Associates is an applied research corporation with a distinctive approach to solving difficult technical problems. Our name, Areté, means achievement of maximum performance. Areté's original focus was applied oceanographic research and remote sensing of the ocean. It has since expanded to include development and implementation of real-time processors and lidar systems, fundamental and applied research in atmospheric physics, design and evaluation of active and passive optical sensors, and formulation and evaluation of likelihood-based detection processing algorithms. Recently, Areté has added to its areas of expertise with the inclusion of environmental monitoring, broad-based technology assessment, and development of interactive workstation software and physics-based environmental scene simulation.
