Students are eligible to enter the California State Science Fair when they are in grades 7-12. While most students are able to reach this final science fair of the academic year only once in their school career, a little over 100 come back for a second time. Fewer come three times, etc.
This year, only one student, Kenneth Custer of Foothill High School in Santa Ana (Orange County), participated for the sixth time, reaching the California State Science Fair each year in which he was eligible: 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997.
In honor of this achievement, Kenneth was recognized at the Tuesday morning orientation session on the Awards Ceremony stage, and will have his name permanently recorded on a perpetual plaque at the California Museum of Science and Industry.
