Three CSSF Students Named to Final Forty

(September 18, 2002) - Three participants in the 2002 California State Science Fair have been named as finalists in the Fourth Annual Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge. These three finalists were chosen from over 1,700 entrants this year, and are among only 40 finalists from around the country.

The Final Forty will travel to the nation's capital and compete for more than $100,000 in college scholarships and other awards in science competitions on October 19-22. The finalists will work as real-life "Spy Kids" at the CIA, study forensics with the Washington, D.C. Capitol Police Force, and fight cyber-crime alongside cyber-criminologists. The winners will be announced at the National Zoo on October 23.

The DYSC is a national science competition for students in grades 5-8 created by the Discover Channel (Discover Communications, Inc., DCI) and Science Service to encourage the exploration, understanding, and communication of science among the next generation of America's youth.
