CSEF Qualification Issues: |
- The authority for qualifying students from Contra Costa County is divided along geographical lines, not county boundaries. The Golden Gate STEM Fair is authorized to qualify to CSEF students attending schools in communities in western Contra Costa County. See the Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair for its area of authority.
- Students attending schools in Mendocino County cannot qualify to CSEF through the Golden Gate STEM Fair, though they are eligible to participate in the Golden Gate STEM Fair for the many other opportunities offered there, including the opportunity to qualify to the International Science & Engineering Fair. Students in Mendocino County may qualify to CSEF only through the Mendocino County Science Fair.
- Students attending schools in Solano County cannot qualify to CSEF through the Golden Gate STEM Fair, though they are eligible to participate in the Golden Gate STEM Fair for the many other opportunities offered there, including the opportunity to qualify to the International Science & Engineering Fair. Students in Solano County may qualify to CSEF only through the Solano County Science Fair

Comments: |
- Since this fair does not accept team projects among its participants, such projects have no qualification route to CSEF. We therefore advise students and teachers in schools in the areas enumerated in the “Authorization” section above not to initiate science projects based upon teams if attendance at CSEF is a potential goal.
- Since this fair does not accept students in grade 6, such students attending schools within the areas enumerated in the “Authorization” section above have no qualification mechanism to CSEF.
- This fair is also an ISEF affiliate.
